Jai Gangaajal director Prakash Jha accused of fraud 

Director Prakash Jha faced disappointment earlier this year when his much talked about Jai Gangaajal failed to succeed at the box-office. He also received criticisms for hogging more screen time than Priyanka Chopra, who was tauted as the film’s main lead. 

It seems that his troubles are far from over as far as that film is concerned. Play Entertainment, the co-producers of Jai Gangaajal, have filed a police complaint against Jha for allegedly not providing them with the master copy of the film, which is incurring losses to their firm. 

Milind Dabke, CEO of Play Entertainment said in a media statement, “In a breach of the MoU filed between us for ‘Jai Gangaajal,’ we are yet to receive the master copy of the film which is causing losses to our production house as we are not able to execute any commercial deals or sell satellite rights to any TV channel in the absence of the original copy.” 

But this is not all. Play Entertainment has also accused Jha of selling the sound recording copyrights of their next film, Fraud Saiyyan to a different company instead of theirs.  

CEO of Jha’s production house, Sunil Agrawal, however, has rubbished all allegations as baseless. He said, “They are trying to create a case which is not tenable at all. All this is being done for cheap publicity by using a big banner like ours. If they continue to unnecessarily harass us, we will have no other option but to file a harassment case against them.” 

He also said that they had withdrawn the copy earlier as their payments were due, but they later sent 10 letters to Play Entertainment to collect the copy. “We later realised we will not receive money so decided to simply give it to them so that the film does not suffer,” he said. 

About the accusation surrounding Fruad Saiyaan, he said, “We were already bound by a deal to sell music rights of three films to the music company of which ‘Fraud Saiyaan’ was one of them. Later, we requested the music company to relinquish their right over the music of this particular film which they did. Thus, all music rights remain with Play Entertainment.”
