Ranveer Singh becomes Chhupa Rustom for Akshay Kumar

At first we thought it was a mere fanboy moment when Ranveer Singh shared a childhood picture of him posing with Akshay Kumar. Well, the boy has turned into a man, but the child in Ranveer Singh remains alive.

In yet another tribute to Akshay Kumar, Singh posted a video of him dressed in a naval officer's uniform.

In the video, Singh surfaces after a brief lull dressed as Rustom. Seconds later, he reveals that if 'Akshay Kumar Rustom, toh main Chhupa Rustom'.  After firing the gun, Singh dances to the popular track 'Zeher hai ke pyar hai tera chumma' from Kumar's film Sabse Bada Khiladi (1995). 

Tagging his idol, Singh tweeted, "Chumma to you."

Kumar was quick to not only retweet this funny video, but he also filmed a video of himself showing the Chhupa Rustom gag to his Rustom co-stars Esha Gupta and Ileana D'Cruz.

The buzz is that the 'Chhupa Rustom' meme will be enacted by 10 actors, with Sidharth Malhtora and Sonakshi Sinha among those who will follow Ranveer Singh. As reported earlier, Salman Khan had posted a video of hailing Kumar as the Rustom-e-Hind of Hindi cinema.

Kumar and his Rustom team have been promoting their film largely through digital media. This innovative gag may further help the film’s prospects. We wonder if Hrithik Roshan will be thinking, why can't I get someone to play Chhupa Sarman? In Mohenjo Daro, Roshan plays a farmer, Sarman.

Rustom is set to clash with Roshan's Mohenjo Daro on 12 August.
