The rumour mill has been working full time on news about Sanjay Dutt's biopic ever since Ranbir Kapoor's interview came out. Kapoor had mentioned that the team behind the biopic might start work sometime this year. The man on whom the biopic is based has now let out some important information on the film. Speaking to the Times of India, Dutt revealed that the film might go on floors this December.

"I'm told they'll start in December. The dates are sorted but Raju is still writing. He has 900 hours of recorded conversations with me from which he has to cull out a two-and-a-half-hour film," Dutt said. The actor also admitted that the first draft for the film is not yet ready. Dutt said, "He (Hirani) doesn't want me to hear it till the first draft is ready. He should give me a narration in 15-20 days."

Kapoor is expected to play Dutt in the biopic directed by Hirani. Dutt himself is expected to make a cameo appearance in the film. Hirani reportedly shot live footage of Dutt being released from jail after his sentence in the TADA case. Says Dutt, "I was in a daze. I don't know what we shot, I don't even know if I'm in the film."

Meanwhile, the actor's Munnabhai series is expected to have a third installment, with director Hirani very keen. However, any possibility of that film will only surface after the biopic itself is completed.

Since his return from prison, the actor has been speculated to have signed few films. One of those is Marco Bhau by Shelly Chopra. Dutt will begin shooting for the film in December. Tentatively titled Marco Bhau, the film was expected to go on the floors in November, but has been postponed by a month. Dutt stated the reason for the delay to be producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra's need to get the music ready. He said, "It'll be the first film I shoot for, a decision taken by Vinodji and me when I was out on furlough. It's a feel-good film about a father-daughter relationship, the right one to start this innings with." The actor will also begin working on close friend and collaborator Mahesh Manjrekar's Hindi remake of the Marathi hit, De Dhakka.

Either way, it looks like Dutt is gearing up for a big 2017.
