Riteish Deshmukh, Nargis Fakhri make 'rada' in new Banjo track: Watch

The purists are least likely to be warmed by Riteish Deshmukh's shenanigans in Banjo, but then again Deshmukh’s character is this musical cares two hoots about the hegemony of the elite. 

As seen from the trailer and, later, the 'Bappa' track, Deshmukh's character is an underdog from the humble bylanes of Mumbai, belonging to the economically weaker sections. The youth from this class of society can be blunt and unabashed. And that is precisely the feeling one gets from the ‘Rada’ track that was unveiled today. When translated into English, rada means trouble.

One is not sure about making trouble, but Deshmukh and Fakhri are certainly making unpleasant noise through this track.

Remarkably, on a day when we heard a great melody in the form of the title track of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Amitabh Bhattarcharya shocks us with the timid lyrics of 'Rada'. With no rocking lyrics at their disposal, there is very little Vishal Dadlani, Shalmali Kholgade and Nakash Aziz could have done to make the track sound better. Dadlani, though, will have to face criticism for the average music.

For all its frailties, the 'Rada' track might still find favour with the target audience. Banjo releases on 23 September.  Watch the 'Rada' track here.
