When Nargis Fakhri remained absent from the promotions of her multi-starrer film Housefull 3 earlier this year, the rumour mills had it that she had left for the US to recover from her reported break-up with actor Uday Chopra. However, it has now emerged that Fakhri was suffering from a dangerous illness.

The actress told a leading daily, “When I came here, I had arsenic and lead poisoning and no one knew what was wrong with me. It can happen in many ways — it could be in the water, food, rusted lead pipes in an old building. The doctor tested me, but he was so scared because it was at a very high level."

Fakhri then took ayurvedic medicines and the results stunned her doctor. She revealed, “Ayurveda is based on naturopathy, herbs, but it was a combination of different things that I researched and six months later I got the test done again and there was nothing! The doctor was like ‘Oh, my god! How did you do this?’ And I said I will tell you when I see you.”

Some time back, there were also reports of Fakhri quitting films. But the actress squashed them as rumours in an interview.
