Box-office: No flying returns on extended weekend for A Flying Jatt

His earlier films, Heropanti (2014)  and Baaghi (2016), were panned by critics, but commercially successful. Nothing changes with Tiger Shroff's third film which has been slammed by critics, but sadly, the young actor is bracing for his first failure at the box-office.

Panned heavily by critics, A Flying Jatt isn’t finding many takers with the audience with the superhero flick bagging just Rs27 crore in four days. 

As reported by BoxofficeIndia.com, A Flying Jatt posted its highest day collection of Rs8.25 crore on Sunday, which took its four-day collection to Rs27.5 crore. The film that released across 2,500 screens in the country on 25 August, had a poor opening collection of Rs6.75 crore, and followed it up with average collection of Rs5.5 crore and Rs7 crore on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh had pegged the three-day figures to Rs20.45 crore.

Given it’s only his third film, Shroff need not be overly worried with the average collections of A Flying Jatt. However, the high-flying superhero flick also happens to be his most expensive film till date. The Remo D’Souza-directed film has been made on a budget of Rs35 crore. The makers are said to have spent a further Rs8-10 crore on the marketing, thus the current 4-day box-office collection is not so satisfactory.

Shroff’s debut film Heropanti (2014) and his next film Baaghi: A rebel for love (2016) had bagged over Rs50 net in box-office collections.

Shroff’s task for the second week is cut out as it will face competition from Sonakshi Sinha’s action thriller Akira that releases on 2 September.
