Director Karan Johar, whose next film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil will release on 28 October, has been slated for a prestigious ‘In Conversation with...’ lineup at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) alongside actors like Mark Wahlberg and Zhang Ziyi.
TIFF has regularly showcased Indian films like Dhobi Ghat (2011), Shuddh Desi Romance (2013), Mary Kom (2014) and Angry Indian Goddesses (2015). This year, Konkona Sen Sharma’s directorial debut A Death in the Ganj will also be making its world premiere at the festival.
It’s only fitting that they would invite one of Hindi cinema’s most global filmmakers to talk about his cinematic style and mentors who assisted him along the way. Johar’s onstage conversation will take place on 10 September. The film festival will be held from the 8-18 September.
Besides Karan Johar, Palestinian filmmaker Hiam Abbas, Nigerian actress Genevieve Nnaji and filmmaker Kunle Afolayan, Hollywood actor Wahlberg, Brazilian actress Sonia Braga, French actress Isabelle Huppert and Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi have also been chosen to talk at the festival.
