Akshay Kumar has achieved a rare feat of entering the Rs100-crore club thrice in this year. After Airlift and Housefull 3, his latest outing, Rustom, has also entered the coveted list after taking its 10-day total to Rs106 crore. This might well be the first time an actor has accomplished this feat in a span of just seven months.

The film amassed Rs17 crore in its second weekend by earning Rs4.25 crore, Rs5.75 crore and Rs7 crore on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This is the third highest second weekend score of the year after Sultan (Rs34 crore) and Airlift (Rs18.50 crore). The Salman Khan-starrer went onto earn Rs300 crore lifetime in India.

Ashutosh Gowariker’s Mohenjo Daro, which released alongside Rustom, has faced huge loses at the ticket-window. The film has managed earnings of under Rs60 crore, which is way below its cost of production of more than Rs100 crore.

Rustom also proved to be a hindrance for this week’s new release, Happy Bhag Jayegi. Starring Diana Penty, Jimmy Shergill, Abhay Deol and Ali Fazal, the film earned Rs7 crore less in its first weekend that what Rustom earned in its second.
