Despite some good reviews, Mudassar Aziz's comedy, Happy Bhag Jayegi, had a low opening day with a net collection of Rs2.25 crore on Friday. Although the rate of collections improved during the evening, it was not optimistic. The film has been reviewed favourably across the media, which does offer hope that it might make it to the Rs4 crore mark by tomorrow. The low production costs and impending weekend ensure that the film cannot be written off just yet. Read review
The film also fared better towards North India with collections in Delhi and Punjab outdoing other circuits in India. The Rs2.25 crore mark puts Aziz's film on the 25th rank, alongside other low grossers like Madaari and 1920 London which released this year.
Some other films which suffered through low openings are:
Fitoor - Rs3.27 crore
T3en - Rs2.57 crore
Great Grand Masti - Rs2.54 crore
Although these three films flopped, their failure was a result of low returns due to the unfavourable reviews. Aziz's film still has that one positive element going for it. But eventually only the weekend can tell how Happy Bhag Jayegi will fare.
