Nitya Mehra: Baar Baar Dekho has theme of time, but it's not time travel - Video

The team of Baar Baar Dekho come together to discuss the idea behind the film, where they revealed that the film's lead character will be able to see the future.

Producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Deshmukh (Excel Entertainment), Karan Johar (Dharma Productions), director Nitya Mehra and actors Sidharth Malhotra and Katrina Kaif came together to discuss the conception and making of their film Baar Baar Dekho. The producers have adopted a very interesting promotional strategy for this romantic comedy. The makers first released the dance number 'Kaala Chashma', then an intriguing motion poster and now a roundtable discussion of the team. And the trailer hasn't even come out yet!

The reason for this probably is that the makers consider it a high-concept film and want to do things a little differently to convey that to the audience.

While there has been buzz that the film is based on the British romantic comedy About Time, in which the lead character can go back in the past and change things leading to a different result in the present, the makers have refuted the talk. Director Nitya said, "The theme of time is pretty much in there, as is the theme of love and life. So yes, but I don't think it's a time travel film."

It sure does a twist on About Time though. In Baar Baar Dekho the character can see the future and change the present according to the way he wants to shape his future.

Producer Farhan went on to reveal more about the concept of the film, "Hindi films are known for making love stories. Moving forward we have to speak to a younger audience... speak to them in a new kind of way, present love stories in a way they can enjoy that they have not seen before. This is a new.... using technology, using things that the young mind is very influenced by... it is using all that stuff to tell a story in a new kind of way. That's what makes it high-concept," said Farhan.

So if you are left intrigued, here's what the basic concept of the film is: What if you were actually given a chance to see the future of your relationship? How good or bad would that be? And having seen that what would you do differently?
