Mainstream Hindi cinema’s affair with sequels will continue with Aankhen. The 2002 film was directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah and it starred Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Bipasha Basu and Arjun Rampal.

The makers have now put up hoardings across Mumbai that a major announcement related to the film will be made tomorrow (17 August). A grand event will be held at Mumbai’s Filmcity.

There has been speculation that the sequel will see Akshay replaced by John Abraham. The Baby actor also hinted that the news to be true during the success press conference of his latest release, Rustom. When asked about the announcement related to Aankhen 2, Akshay simply said, “I am not aware of it.” Interestingly, John has replaced Akshay in the sequels of Welcome and Hera Pheri earlier.

It will mean that apart from Bachchan, the entire prime cast of the sequel will be new. Even the role of the director will be donned by Anees Bazmee instead of Shah.
