The season of sequels has taken an unexpected turn. Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger is the latest blockbuster to become a franchise. The news comes as a surprise since there were no talks or speculations about a second part to the Kabir Khan film.
On Sunday, 14 August, rumour mills were abuzz with the news of Ek Tha Tiger sequel. But the news was confirmed on 15 August after Kabir himself shared the news on Twitter, on the fourth anniversary of the 2012 film. The director tweeted, “Thank you for all the love and making #4YearsOfBlockbusterETT trend... Now wait for the sequel.” The news instantly set off celebrations among a huge number of Bhaijaan fans.
There are reports that the sequel will be titled Tiger Zinda Hai. The story will take off from where the first film ended. But there hasn’t been any confirmation on the script, or whether Katrina Kaif will reprise her role in the sequel.
Currently, Kabir and Salman are busy shooting Tubelight, which is an Indo-China joint venture. They will commence shooting Ek Tha Tiger's sequel only after shooting for this film ends.
Ek Tha Tiger released on 2012 Independence Day and became Salman’s highest box-office grosser at that time. Ek Tha Tiger told the story of a RAW agent who falls in love with Pakistan’s ISI agent.
