Silence speaks volumes. This was exemplified by Ranbir Kapoor with his Filmfare award-winning performance in Barfi! (2012). Kapoor, as the deaf-mute simpleton, won over the nation.
The apparent buzz is that Kapoor could be playing a character with a speech disorder in another Anurag Basu-directed film.
“From what I’ve heard, Jagga Jasoos isn’t your typical detective. He’s not mute, but he does have a speech problem in the film. Don’t be surprised if you find Jagga Jasoos stammering in the film," said an industry source who is close to one of the key figures from the film.
Disney India had recently announced a release date (7 April 2017) for the much-awaited, light-hearted detective drama and with eight months still to go, it is unlikely that Kapoor or director Anurag Basu would talk about it. Today, actors shy away from talking about their characters in detail even at press conferences.
We did send a text to Kapoor, but expectedly, the actor did not respond.
Jagga Jasoos has been three years in the making, with the film facing issues from the stars' dates to Kapoor and ex-girlfriend Katrina Kaif's break-up. The film was finally wrapped up a couple of months ago in Morocco.
There is a long way to go for the film’s release and thus one will have to wait for official confirmation from the Jagga Jasoos team. Until then, if not stammer, Kapoor can keep his lips sealed.
