Vijay Krishna Acharya’s Thug was supposed to reunite Amitabh Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan after Lakshya (2004). However, recent reports suggest that Roshan will not be a part of Yash Raj Films’ upcoming project.
Word is that Aamir Khan might be taking up the film after finishing his commitments for Dangal, which is due to release by the end of this year. This would be the first time the two would be sharing the screen. Previously, Amitabh Bachchan had narrated Aamir’s debut home production, Lagaan (2001).
Thug is reportedly based on Philip Meadows Taylor’s 1839 novel, Confessions of a Thug. The book is set in the British Raj and is about the 'thugs’ who murdered travellers and stole their valuables.
