After inviting Sunny Leone to sing the national anthem, organisers of Pro Kabaddi League season 4 saved the best for the last by having Hrithik Roshan sing the anthem before the title clash. And the Mohenjo Daro star did not disappoint, putting his patriotic soul into the rendition.
Given how in the past some have take offence to the singing of the anthem by celebrities, Hrithik Roshan seemed to have done his homework well, Not only did he finish singing Jana Gana Mana in the stipulated 52 seconds, he spelt each word correctly. And the grandson of legendary music director Roshan sounded great too.
The players on the turf and everyone present at the Gachibowli indoor stadium in Hyderabad got goosebumps from Hrithik Roshan's performance. There was a loud cheer from the fans and the players appreciating the star's effort.
National anthem recitals can be a tricky affair for celebrities as there are always critics and publicity hounds waiting to pounce on the slightest mistake. A complaint was filed against Amitabh Bachchan for taking too long to sing the national anthem at the opening ceremony of the 2016 World T20 event in Kolkata.
Interestingly, the same gentleman accused Leone, a Canadian actress of Indian descent, of wrongly using the word Sindhu for Sindh when she sang the anthem before a Pro Kabaddi League game in Mumbai last month.
