Nandita Das, who made her directorial debut with the award-winning Firaaq, is set to direct again. She will reportedly adapt the life of legendary Pakistani writer Saadat Hasan Manto, with Irrfan Khan playing the protagonist.
Das believes Irrfan looks like Manto and is fluent in Urdu, apart from being a wonderful actor. She is still working on the script with Mir Ali Hussain, apparently, but has revealed that she will capture the crucial seven years of Manto's life before and after the partition of India. She has also expressed her desire to shoot the film partly in Pakistan to maintain its authenticity.
The film will reportedly be set in Mumbai and Lahore.
