The talks and debates related to the Uri terrorist attacks and the subsequent surgical strikes by Indian Army refuse to die down. The topic is trending across conversations in the virtual world and outside. While speaking about the issue, actor Om Puri has landed himself in a serious controversy.

The veteran artist was speaking as a guest on a Hindi news channel where the discussion about the silence of Pakistani actors with regards to Uri attacks was taking place. When it was pointed out to Puri that an Indian solider was martyred yesterday, he said, “So what? Did we ever force him to join the forces?” His statement came as a shock to the rest of the panellists, which also included the father of a soldier who was martyred in the 1999 Kargil War.

But this didn’t have any effect on the actor. During the course of the discussion, he went on to suggest that suicide bombers from India should be sent to Pakistan. Not able to bear the reactions of the panellists, Puri left the discussion in a huff.

As expected, his comments created an uproar on social media with people urging him to offer an apology by trending hashtags like #OmPuriSaySorry. Even his co-star Anupam Kher took onto social media to express his displeasure at his statements.
