The boy-meets-girl saga with a non-committal twist.

We have seen numerous films about a boy and a girl hanging around in a foreign land and having the time of their lives. Aditya Chopra’s Befikre also seems to be one such film, going by the trailer which has just released.

But there is something that stops the film from being yet another saga on the same subject. While in all such films the couple fall in love and get eager to marry, the trailer of Befikre doesn’t touch the romance aspect.

It shows that Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor, who share an impressive chemistry, as two carefree souls just wanting to enjoy each other’s company by hanging out and making out. There are some beautiful and vibrant visuals of the city of Paris. At times, however, the makers go overboard in establishing their state of mind and ideologies of the characters.

Most of the trailers in today’s times are guilty of revealing almost the entire storyline. But Befikre is the opposite. The makers have not given any idea about the storyline. So, there is every possibility of this being intentional and the film being much more than what is shown in the trailer.

Every love story by Yash Raj Films has attracted the family audience till date. But Befikre may be the first exception due to the bold content. There is also the danger of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) creating problems for the film.

Befikre is just the fourth directorial venture for Aditya Chopra in his 21-year-long career. It releases on 11 December 2016.
