Pakistani actors are not terrorists, Salman speaks out in defence

Controversy's favourite child, Salman Khan, seems to have opened up another can of worms. In response to the recent furore over banning Pakistani artistes following the terror attacks at Uri in Jammu and Kashmir, the actor said, "They (Pakistani actors) are artistes, not terrorists. It's the government who gives them permits and visas."

After the terrorist strike last month, several political parties, including the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena's film wing, Maharashtra Navnirman Chitrapat Karmachari Sena, had demanded that films with Pakistani artistes should not be allowed to release. There were also calls for Pakistani artistes to be sent back. The Indian Motion Pictures Producers' Association passed a resolution yesterday to ban Pakistani artists and technicians from working in India till the situation at the border is resolved. 

Khan's statements come at a difficult time and might land him in hot water again. However, when asked about the Indian Army's action on the terrorist camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, the actor voiced his support. He said, "Terrorists na? Proper action tha. (Terrorists, right? That was a proper action.)" 

We only hope this does not erupt into another controversy.
